"You shouldn't ever try to look at an alpha male silverback gorilla in the eyes."

There's a risk in everything we do, but we can mitigate risks through positive preventative action… Let's take a peak at that gorilla …

Heat

It's going to be smoking hot, but we've got the ultimate strategy to stay ahead of the Italian summer heat:

1. Water. We're going to be drinking plenty of it.
2. Siestas. We're going to do our best to be out of the sun during the heat of the day. This means our walking and exploring will be in the morning while afternoons will be reserved for siesta time (whether that be pool time, reading time, napping time or massage time).

Palio Passion

There's a great deal of passion surrounding the Palio that's exacerbated by the heat. Some of this passion might be displayed right after the race when little scuffles could break out between the winning and losing contradas. Basically there will be some chaos immediately after the race, but we'll be making sure we stay in our seats after the Palio until things quiet down a tiny bit (unless you want to run with your guide to make it into the Cathedral to see the blessing of the winning horse (in the actual cathedral!)
