The Bahia Carnival Salvador, Brazil

Drums, dancing, heat. Dance the Samba at the most famous Mardi Gras Carnival in the world. The King of Portugal love Salvador so much that he made the city the capital of Portugal!

"He didn't want to go home... and neither will you!"

Day 1 Third Friday in February

Welcome to Brazil! You'll be picked up from the airport and taken directly to our home for the next five days, the fabulous Hotel Pestana. That evening, over welcome drinks, you'll learn the basic moves and rhythms that will take you through our two nights of Carnival parades during our trip. That night we'll be going to our favourite "Grillia" to sample every type of Brazilian cuisine. You'll love it!

Day 2 Saturday

In the morning we'll be exploring the old city of Salvador's Pelourinho district overlooking the Todos os Santos (All Saints) Bay. Our local guide Gabriella will be walking you through the rich history of the port. You'll be amazed how little the old district has changed and shocked at the treatment of slaves in the early years of the city. After a lunch in an old hacienda overlooking the bay, you'll be given an opportunity to do some shopping in the old district or relax at the hotel before our first Carnival Parade in the evening! Are you excited now? You should be. There's going to be a lot of people walking and dancing to the beat of the drums. Three quarters of the way through the parade you'll have a chance to relax at our Camorote (private viewing area) where you can watch the parade mosey by.

Day 3 Sunday

Relaxation! Today we'll be taking a boat journey to nearby Frades Island where we relax on the beach and feast in a traditional Bahia barbeque setting. This perfect day is designed for relaxation after your first "hectic" Carnival experience. Dinner is on your own allowing you to choose from an array of Salvador's fantastic restaurants. Your guides will recommend the best restaurants.

Day 4 Monday

Today's the day of your second Carnival Circuit. Today, as in the whole trip, the day will be filled with relaxing activities allowing you to rest up before tonight's Parade. Today's options include: Golfing, Beach, Sleep, Shopping, Massages, whatever you want to do. Our guides will help you decide your best option so you're primed for another night of Carnival!

Day 5 Tuesday

Our fabulous guide Gabriella will be escorting us on our tour of the lower city. The second half of our Historic City Tour is today as we visit the Lower City. You'll have a great opportunity for shopping and lunch will be held at the old Mercado Centro (Central Market) that houses so many stalls. That night we'll be eating a famous Brazilian House where you'll get to see Capoeira dancing up close. An excellent way to end your Salvador Carnival experience.

Day 6 Wednesday

All good things must come to an end (but now is only the beginning of you your next great adventure). We'll take you to the Airport or to the Morro de Sao Paolo for some more relaxation.
